Fig, Apple & Orange Chutney

This Figgy chutney won 2 stars in the 2024 Great Taste Awards. Ripe Figs with freshly squeezed juice and diced apple cooked with dark brown sugar and spices for a chunky rich chutney.

The Judges said "The apple is fragrant and beautifully cooked - soft and aromatic. Deep sweet/savoury notes from the figs and a well balanced dash of orange juice and flesh which sings on the finish. You can taste the sultanas - which is often not the case. The mixed spices have been well judged - they are soft and mellow and hum along in the background, offering their warming tones to the fruit. The acidity has been very well judged to create a product that is borderline between a jam and a chutney - which would be scrumptious with a soft and crumbly fresh goat's cheese."
